A little history of the Antwerp Fire Department

In April 1880 Antwerp purchased the first hook and ladder truck from Ft Wayne second-handed for $800.

In 1920, the first piece of motorized fire equipment was acquired by the village and that is the top picture here, a Model T Ford. In 1933, Antwerp purchased the Dodge fire truck. On that truck is Paul Billman, Chief Harry Reeb, Dick Gaisford, Cecil Billman.

Antwerp purchased a Chevrolet fire truck in 1945 or 1946, Ray Friend tells me.

In 1956, a Howe fire truck on a Ford.

In 1962, the township purchased a front mount pumper on a Chevy.

In 1971, we purchased a Ford front mount pumper, a Sutphuns.

In 1987, we purchased and allegheny pump on a GMC Brigadier.

In 1997, we purchased a pierce pumper on an International Harvester truck.

In 1994, we bought a grass unit on a Chevy.

In 1997 we bought a new grass unit on a Chevy.

In 2016 we got a new unit on a freight-liner.

In February 2017 the township will take possession of a new tanker a 3000 gal. unit from Foust Bros.
