Four Star Schools Celebrated And Honored By Local And State Officials

The Indiana Department of Education announced the 2014-15 Four Star Schools. East Allen County Schools’ – Cedarville Elementary, Leo

Elementary and Leo Junior/Senior High School were named 2014-15 Four Star Schools! Local and State celebrated with each of those schools on today, September 15!

The Local and State officials in attendance were: Ms. Danielle Shockey, IDOE Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Bill Davis and Ms. Karen Green, Congressman Stutzman’s Representatives, Mr. Doug Thieme, IDOE Coordinator, Mr. Josh Wenning, Ex. Director of Region 8, County Commissioner Nelson Peters, Senator Dennis Kruse, State Representative Casey Cox, EACS Board Members, Dr. Ken Folks, EACS Superintendent students and staff! It was an exciting time for all who attended!

In order to achieve this designation, a school must be in the top 25th percentile of schools in performance on ISTEP+ and ECA state exams, as well their rating determined by the national No Child Left Behind statute’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Additionally, a qualifying school must have earned the highest designation in the state’s accountability system and be accredited by the Indiana Department of Education.
