State Patrol Investigating Serious Injury Crash in Paulding County

medical emergency policeEmerald Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating an injury crash that occurred at approximately 10:20 A.M. Friday morning on County Road 232 at County Road 133, in Paulding County.

A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was northbound on County Road 133. A 2001 Ford Focus, driven by Rita Pender, age 26, of Paulding, Ohio, was westbound on County Road 232. The driver of the Blazer failed to yield to Pender’s vehicle and was struck in the right side. Both vehicles travelled off the northwest side of the intersection sustaining heavy damage. A 2012 Honda Odyssey southbound on County Road 133 was stopped at the intersection when the crash occurred. The Honda was struck by the Blazer as it spun, and travelled off the roadway.

All drivers and occupants were transported to area hospitals. The crash is still under investigation and parties are still being interviewed and identified in the investigation.

Additional information will be made available as the investigation continues. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and seat belt use is unknown.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Paulding Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Fire and EMS, as well as Gideon’s and J & R Towing.
