The Paulding Hospital and the community has been greatly blessed by the Bargain Bin of Paulding County. The Hospital Auxiliary has been working hard on the third location since it’s original opening in 1962. Currently, the facility is housed at 118 Perry St. near the corner of Cherry Street in Paulding, Ohio. The Bargain Bin has focused on serving the community through the continuous circle of collecting donations of clothing and other items, sorting, then and reselling to people at great prices.

EDP Renewables is one of the companies with power generating windmill farms serving the region around Paulding County. They have been donating from their profits to local organizations who make the community better. EDP Renewables, represented by Chris Brooks from Chicago, presented a check to the board members on an icy, cold and rainy day, Monday, December 28, 2015.

Around $50,000 is left to collect out of the original $250,000 goal. These members have clearly worked hard to make this a reality! If you would like to become a member of the Auxiliary, they would love to have you join! The easiest way is to stop in on Mondays and start volunteering. There is a minuscule yearly fee to join, but they would love your help. They are open on Fridays and Saturdays to sell to the community at great prices!

“It’s wonderful to have this opportunity to donate to such a good cause!” continued Chris, “This is a small token compared to the time that all of you have spent making this a reality.”

You could see the excitement in all of the workers’ eyes when Chris arrived—they knew their work had not been in vain. Rhonda Smalley, President said, “This time of year we have received quite a few gifts, but this large gift will greatly help us get closer to our goal.”

Paulding County Commissioner, Tony Zartman, stated, “Back when EDP decided to move into Paulding County, they committed to me to being a good corporate neighbor and this is just another example of that commitment, and with this attitude it should be this way for years to come.”

Lisa McClure of the Area Foundation is still collecting funds. If you would like more information contact her at: 101 E. Perry Street, Paulding, OH 45879 or call 419-399-8296.

Over the years the Bargain Bin has been able to give over $1,000,000 to the hospital for new therapy equipment and with the new building to be completed next summer, it will be able to do even more for local healthcare.

The Bargain Bin hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The work day is usually Monday from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Currently, there is a building at the back to drop off donations if no one is around. Llarge items are not accepted at this time, but hopefully this will change when the new building is finished.
