Wayne Trace struggles for Success

Wayne Trace vs. CrestviewJust before the game began at Wayne Trace, a rain shower wet the ground making for a very slick football field. The game started very rough for the home team. Crestview’s Jordan Miller started early with the first touchdown at 7:32 on the clock. The next came a minute later after Crestview grabbed the ball right after the kick off to Wayne Trace only for Jordan to score again on the next play. The score is now 0-16 at the end of the first quarter.

The game is quickly descending for the home team. The second quarter brings another Knight touchdown, this time by Dylan Grindstaff on a 53 yard run. No points after. The score 0-22 is being announced and the tears of the Raiders are making the field wetter than before. What have we here? A light is shining down from heaven? Wayne Trace’s QB Gabe Wobler on a pass to Seth Saylor makes for a 61 yard touchdown with 6:52 left on the clock. Revenge is sweet as the Raiders take possession again just after the kick to the Van Wert team. Wobler makes another pass, this time to Luke Miller, and a 45 yard touchdown (points after fails). The final score at 2:34 before halftime was by Hunter Showalter on a 7 yard run and the game is now tied at 22 for half time. The miraculous recover means the Raiders are back in the game!

The second half wasn’t quite as glorious for the Haviland team. Jordan Miller nailed two more touchdowns along with Dylan Grandstaff for the Knights while Cole Shepherd was the last and only touchdown in the second half for Wayne Trace, finishing the game with a 30-51 game.

Rushing yards was the trump card for Crestview with 400 vs 18 for the Raiders.

The next game for Wayne Trace takes place at home against Fairview.
