Ramco Supply Opening Grandly with New Manufacturing Facility

Ramco Ribbon CuttingRamco is one of the newest additions to the Industrial Park along State Road 101 outside of Woodburn. The company’s headquarters is located in Rochester, IN about 90 miles away.

This last weekend of April, on the 25th, the company celebrated their Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting including the officials of Woodburn. Mayor Richard Hoeppner stated, “I’m very excited to have Ramco in our Industrial Park. It’s a great fit for our community.”

In 1997, founder and owner, Marvin Ramer, began building post frame buildings in the Rochester IN, and surrounding areas. He soon became dissatisfied with the two week lead times on metal roofing and siding in the area. He began to research the possibilities of buying directly from a national manufacturer.

In 2000, he built a 40×60 pole building, and started retailing metal roofing & siding, buying from several different national companies. A 10’ computerized trim folder and a 10’ shear were added in 2003 to Ramco Supply’s manufacturing arsenal and most of the trim pieces were now made in-house, giving the added flexibility of manufacturing custom trims on quickly and to exact specifications.

Adding more equipment including the ability to make their own custom metal rib panels and gave better quality control to the entire process. A larger trim shop was added in 2007, housing a 21’ CNC metal brake, along with several trim roll formers, allowing the increase in the amount of stock trim.

Along with all the additions in Rochester, Woodburn was selected with the help of the Lord as the next retail and manufacturing location after Marvin and his wife, Marietta began to see the need for expanding outside of the current area.

The industry has grown tremendously over the last 50 years, from one very large producer in West Virginia, shipping all over the U.S. to smaller, local, active manufacturers who can provide a variety of custom metals and colors in a timely fashion.

One specific item that sets Ramco apart from box stores and other manufacturers is the ability to buy directly from the steel mills, including SDI, and having the Valspar baked on paint and the Galvalume undercoating made to their specific formulas to provide the end user with the longest possible roof life.

Even with 48-hour standard turnaround, they keep 2,000-2,500 tons of steel on hand at all times between both facilities. 26 fantastic employees keep operations humming from sales to final delivery.

Not only does Ramco Supply make the steel siding and roofing, they also manufacturer custom trim, eves, and roofs, using .016 to .018 thickness of steel. Contractors rave about the consistency of the products produced by the company.

Making the panels, they start off with a 41” wide roll of steel and feed it through the press that squeezes the sheet as it passes through the dies, making the indents and ribs to complete 36” wide panels very quickly for local contractors and home owners who buy direct.

Marvin is very creative with his work and ideas, yet very conservative at the same time. People who need ideas for their concepts can speak with him, coming up with great solutions to nearly any projects with metal.
