Pat Ross is ready to hand the metaphorical reigns to Marty Miller.

Since Pat Ross announced her upcoming resignation the Antwerp School Board has been looking to fill the position for the 2015-2016 school year. They selected Dr. Martin Miller from over 20 candidates applied for the Superintendent position to be left open after Pat Ross retires.
Dr. Martin Miller was born and raised in Paulding County and went to school starting in Oakwood. He later graduated from Paulding High School. Miller graduated with his administration degree from Bowling Green State University.
Marty served as a teacher for 16 years and principal for 12 years. Four and a half years were at Paulding Elementary. He currently serves at Ayersville as Elementary principal. “I thank everyone for the warm welcome and appreciate seeing so manny involved at this board meeting.” he really thought it was well represented by students, teachers, and parents.
A high school student group was there addressing issues of education they thought were important. The students spoke about problems in the middle school. One important point the student body representatives tried to emphasize: they don’t care for the NOVA Program. Alex Vail was not able to be there but he had a quote read by Samantha Provines.
Mikayla Bush read a paper by Annie Meisle, who could not attend, “Antwerp has a good selection of well rounded students.” She continued on about the importance of education in the career. She also read for Joshua Steiner, “However, I realized this class was not what it was made out to be. It is difficult in languages to interact when it’s not with a real teacher.”
There were petitions put out for the students to sign and over 350 signed the petition who want to improve the education and not just to improve GPA. The students signed the petition who were not in favor of cutting the electives. They think it would be detrimental for all the future students of the school.
The NOVA class for English has no writing for college preparation according to one of the students. They claimed, Amy Sorrell, current teacher is much better than the NOVA classes. The young ladies did a great job presenting what they thought of how the school could benefit from continuing on and not following the NOVA classes.
Jasmine Reyes and the student council who went to this conference presented their good times and great education at this event. The small group workshops trained the students to be better leaders and showing students how they can make a difference. They want to attend another OASC conference or possibly host one at Antwerp. There was no middle school student council before Jasmine Reyes came to Antwerp. It has been developed quite well since over the last several years. It was a great experience for the students and for the school as a whole.

Saying, “Listen to your teacher.” The broadcast class created this video and Mrs. Bagley did a great job creating this along with the entire broadcasting class. Where is the danger zone?
