The Antwerp Elementary School, recently took part in the Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Poster Contest, put on locally by the Paulding County Emergency Management Agency and statewide, by the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness. A total of 163 students in grades 1st, 4th and 5th, participated. The posters had to illustrate severe weather occurrence and a safety message. The 1st place winner in each of the grades then competed for the 1st place overall in the school.

Winners in each grades were Harlee Moore, from Mrs. Scharr’s 1st grade class; Lydia Krouse from Mrs. Geyer’s 4th grade class; and Morgan Kniceley, from Mrs. McKibben’s 5th grade class. The overall winner from Antwerp Elementary School, was 1st grader Harlee Moore. Her poster protrayed a severe thunderstorm, with the message, “Stay indoors when it storms and go to the basement”

Each student that participated, will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Paulding County Emergency Management Agency and each of the three winners will receive a $10.00 Gift card. Miss Harlee Moore’s poster will be sent to compete for the state of Ohio’s Severe Weather Awareness Poster Contest.
