Van Wert Post Investigating a Serious Injury Crash

police lights sheriff emergencyVan Wert County, LIBERTY TWP – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash in Van Wert County.

As a result of the crash, two people were transported to the Van Wert Hospital, and one was transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne via Lifeflight.

The crash occurred at 8:52PM, on Wednesday, February 4th on US 127 near mile post 2 in Liberty Township, Van Wert County.

A 2004 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Storm McGinnis, age 23, of Van Wert was southbound on US 127. Mr. McGinnis failed to maintain reasonable control, drove off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, returned to the roadway, and proceeded over the center yellow line and struck a 2007 Ford Five Hundred. The Impala came to final rest on US 127. The Ford Five Hundred was traveling northbound on US 127 driven by Scott Danner age 44, of Payne Ohio, spun off the east side of the roadway, coming to rest in the field.

Storm McGinnis was transported to Fort Wayne Parkview Hospital for treatment via Lifeflight, where he remains in critical condition. Scott Danner and his passenger Annette Danner, age 42 were both transported to Van Wert Hospital via Ohio City Squad, where they were both treated and released.

Alcohol is not a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Assisting at the scene were Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio City EMS and Volunteer Fire Personnel, Superior Towing.
