OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Warriors played at the North Judson-San Pierre High School in North Judson, Indiana on Saturday, March 15 after winning the boys basketball Sectional Championship last week at South Adams. In fact, All the Warriors played there today. All four teams playing in regionals had the same mascot.

Woodlan took on Winamac (home team) in the first game at 11 am and got off to an early lead. The predictions were posted on the tournament site in favor of Woodlan by 4 points. Once the game starts all predictions are fly out the window and the teams have win their way.

The first quarter was in Woodlan’s favor getting off to a good start at 5-0. The guest team held the lead through the first quarter. Quickly Winamac was right back in the game and the first quarter ended at 11-14.

It wasn’t long before Winamac had the ball and Parker Fox could not be stopped posting points on the board. Throughout the game he scored and impressive 34 points, nearly half of his team’s points. At 5:41 left in the second period, the home team tied the game at 17 and the lead Woodlan earned in the first quarter had now dwindled away. First half finished with Winamac in the lead 26-21.

The third quarter the home team outscored Woodlan again. It appeared the Warriors were tired, struggling to sink free throws and jump shots. Through the entire game Woodlan made 10 of 17 of their points from the line. This period finished at 45-35.

Woodlan rallied in the last quarter cutting the lead to only 4 points with 2:28 left. Kadin Gerig performed very well with his three point baskets. In all he had 15 points from the outside line. Still fighting, Woodlan, in the fourth period, scored 25 points, but so did the opposition. Elyjah O’Hara scored a last second 3-point basket narrowing the difference back to 10 points. The game finished at 70-60 with Winamac going to the Regional Final.

Coach David Randall and Boys, you had a great season! It’s time for a rest.

The Woodlan Warriors finished their season 18-7.
