Alan Ray Whirrett

PAULDING: Alan Ray Whirrett passed away quietly following surgery at St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima on January 6, 2013 at 11:15 PM.

Alan was born in Paulding County, Ohio to Bill and Edith (Haney) Whirrett on March 11, 1928. On July 28, 1951 he married Deloris Reinhart, who survives. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the U.S. Army active reserve and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from American Tool Co., Ft. Wayne as plant engineer and was an active family owner of Don’s Dairy, New Hampshire, Ohio. He opened his Precision Shop at home for many years and when able loved gardening, fishing and more recently enjoyed the farm and pond. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Paulding and was a Life Member of Post #587 V.F. W., John Paulding Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Whirrett, Paulding; a son, Donald, Paulding, a brother, Robert (Melba), Indianapolis; an aunt, Betty Copsey, Payne; and three nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10 AM Friday, January 11 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Paulding, and laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with military rites accorded by Post #587.

Visitation will be 4 – 7PM Thursday, January 10 with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

To honor Alan’s wishes, the family requests in lieu of flowers, plaques or throws, donations may be made to Masses; Friends of Feline Rescue Center; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
