GREAT CHANGES FOR JOHN PAULDING DAYS

Many new events have been added to John Paulding Days including a Country Concert, The First Annual Redneck Games, and a Craft Market. Those are just a few of the changes. The festival runs June 7-9. The very popular parade will begin at 7:00 p.m., however families are invited to come down and have dinner and let the kids enjoy the rides beginning at 4:00 p.m. On June 8th and June 9th, the vendors, crafters, and the rides will open at noon. This will give folks working the opportunity to have lunch downtown and will also give families more opportunities to partake in the festivities. And when it comes to rides, that is one of the major changes for this year’s summer fest.

Durant’s Amusements decided not to participate as the ride company at this year’s event, however D & D Putting & Amusements from Continental, OH stepped right in to help facilitate this known tradition in Paulding, Ohio.

Paulding Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is in charge of John Paulding Days and says D & D Putting & Amusements really came in and saved the town festival. “The community really should be grateful that such a family oriented amusement company stepped up for Paulding,” says Erika Willitzer. The ride wristbands are very reasonable too.

One of the biggest events will be an Acoustic Country Concert headlined by Country Singers, Daryle Singletary, Ashton Shepherd, and Paulding County’s own Pete Schlegel. One of Singletary’s most well known hits is “Too Much Fun”. Meanwhile, Shepherd is very known for his hit song “Where Country Grows”. Pete Schlegel is a native of Paulding County but made his mark in the country music scene by touring with country great, George Jones. He also has had success on the charts with his hit song “It Takes a Whole Lotta Liquor to Like Her.” The concert will be held in downtown Paulding, in the parking lot next to Hometown Pizza on June 9th at 8:00 p.m.

Other bands performing are cover band “Venyx” on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. and on Friday a fan favorite and local band, “Rewind” will take the stage at 8:00 p.m.

Executive Director, Willitzer says the Chamber’s Board of Directors really wanted to make sure we created a fun event that was inexpensive at the same time. “I know what a struggle it is with the economy slow and budgets tighter, that’s exactly why we made sure that the entertainment prices were reasonable.”

Another event families can enjoy is the Craft Market which will be held in the Kiwanis Building right across from the Paulding Courthouse. The hours of the craft show will be Thursday June 7th, 4:00–9:00 p.m. and then on Friday and Saturday, Noon to 6:00 p.m. Festival-goers will be able to see anything from chocolate art to unique lawn ornaments.

And last but not least, residents are invited to participate in the first ever Redneck Games. It will be held downtown as well and folks can participate for free and cash prizes are up for grabs. Some of the games include, Best Mud Belly Flop, Arm Pit Serenade, and Redneck Horseshoes (that’s where you use a toilet seat instead of a horseshoe). The games begin at 11:00 a.m. on June 9th, but registration starts at 9:00 a.m.

For a complete listing of events please visit the Paulding Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.PauldingChamber.com or call the Paulding Chamber Office at 419-399-5215.
